Surah Taa-Haa (20) — Ayah 121

فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ وَعَصَىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ ﴿121﴾
Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts became manifest to them, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of the Paradise for their covering. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray.
فَأَكَلَا fa-akalā Then they both ate
مِنْهَا min'hā from it
فَبَدَتْ fabadat so became apparent
لَهُمَا lahumā to them
سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا sawātuhumā their shame
وَطَفِقَا waṭafiqā and they began
يَخْصِفَانِ yakhṣifāni (to) fasten
عَلَيْهِمَا ʿalayhimā on themselves
مِن min from
وَرَقِ waraqi (the) leaves
ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ l-janati (of) Paradise
وَعَصَىٰٓ waʿaṣā And Adam disobeyed
ءَادَمُ ādamu And Adam disobeyed
رَبَّهُۥ rabbahu his Lord
فَغَوَىٰ faghawā and erred

121. So they both ate from it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise [87]. And Adam disobeyed his Lord, so he went astray.

The Immediate Reaction to Tasting the Fruit:

The immediate reaction to eating the fruit of Paradise was that their garments of Paradise were taken away from them, and both Adam and Hawwa became exposed, and they began to see each other’s private parts and felt intense shame. So, they started sticking the leaves of Paradise trees over themselves to cover their private parts. The feeling of hunger and thirst was to come after some time. And they immediately realized that Satan had deceived them and that they had fallen for his trick. At that moment, they remembered the promise they had made to Allah and immediately turned to Allah and began to repent and seek forgiveness.
