Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 109) ➊ {يَوْمَىِٕذٍ لَّا تَنْفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ … :} In this verse, the further awe and greatness of that Day is described, that the claim of the polytheists that their deities will intercede and save them is absolutely wrong. There, no intercession will be of any benefit.

{ اِلَّا مَنْ اَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمٰنُ … :} This has two meanings; both are intended and both are supported by the verses of the Quran. This is the miracle of the Quran, that in extremely concise words, there are many meanings. One meaning is that on that Day, intercession will not benefit except that of the one whom the Most Merciful allows to intercede and whose speech He is pleased with. The second is that on that Day, intercession will not benefit except that of the one for whom the Most Merciful allows intercession and for whom He is pleased with the speech. See Surah Maryam (87), Saba (23), Zukhruf (86), Najm (26), and Naba (38).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

19. 1. That is, on that Day, no one's intercession will benefit anyone, except for those whom the Most Merciful allows to intercede, and even they will not intercede for everyone, but only for those for whom Allah is pleased to allow intercession. And who are these people? Only the people of Tawheed, for whom Allah will permit intercession. This subject has been mentioned in several places in the Quran. For example, Surah Najm, 26; Surah Anbiya, 28; Surah Saba, 23; Surah Naba, 38; and Ayat al-Kursi.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

109. On that Day, no intercession will benefit except for the one to whom the Most Merciful grants permission [78] and whose word He is pleased to hear.

The Three Conditions of Intercession and Their Reasons:

That is, on that day, intercession will certainly take place, but there will be three conditions for it. First, only that person will be able to intercede who has been granted permission by Allah to do so. Second, he will only be able to intercede for the one for whom Allah approves intercession. Third, he will only be able to intercede for such a matter as Allah wishes to hear.
