Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 47) ➊ In verse 40 above, the favors upon the Children of Israel were briefly mentioned; now, to begin their detailed account, they are addressed again, and this style of admonition is extremely eloquent and effective. (Al-Manar) They are also being urged to refrain from opposing the Last Prophet, peace be upon him, and from other absurdities.
➋ "Favored above the worlds" refers to the people of the times before the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, because with his advent, this distinction was granted to this Ummah with the statement «{ كُنْتُمْخَيْرَاُمَّةٍ }»[ آل عمران : ۱۱۰ ]. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: [ خَيْرُالنَّاسِقَرْنِيْثُمَّالَّذِيْنَيَلُوْنَهُمْثُمَّالَّذِيْنَيَلُوْنَهُمْ ] "The best people are those of my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them." [ بخاری، الشہادات، باب لا یشہد علی شہادۃ جور إذا أشہد : ۲۶۵۲، عن عبد اللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ ]
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
47. 1. From here, once again, the Israelites are being reminded of those favors that were bestowed upon them, and they are being warned of the Day of Resurrection, the day when no one will benefit another, nor will intercession be accepted, nor will anyone be able to ransom themselves, nor will any helper come forward. One favor mentioned is that they were given superiority over all the worlds, meaning that before the Ummah of Muhammad, the title of "the best of all nations" belonged to the Children of Israel, which they lost by committing disobedience to Allah, and the Ummah of Muhammad was granted the title of "the best nation." This points to the fact that Allah's favors are not tied to any particular lineage, but are granted on the basis of faith and deeds, and are taken away when faith and deeds are lost, just as the majority of the Ummah of Muhammad, due to their evil deeds and involvement in shirk and innovations, have become the worst of nations instead of the best. May Allah guide them. The Jews were also under the delusion that they were Allah's beloved and chosen people, and thus would be safe from accountability in the Hereafter. Allah has declared that no one will be able to support the disobedient on that day. The Ummah of Muhammad is also caught in this deception and has made the issue of intercession (which is accepted among Ahl al-Sunnah) an excuse for their evil deeds.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
O Children of Israel! Remember My favor which I bestowed upon you, and that I preferred you above all the worlds [66].
[66] That is, there was a time when the knowledge and excellence of the Children of Israel were held in awe by all nations. But this blessing of Allah had the opposite effect on them; instead of being grateful, humbling themselves before Him, and adopting piety, they became arrogant and thought that since they were the descendants of the Prophets, they were Allah’s beloved and favored ones, and therefore would not be punished. This belief became firmly rooted in their creed.
