Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 262){اَلَّذِيْنَ يُنْفِقُوْنَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ … :} That is, this reward will be attained only by those who spend for the pleasure of Allah, and after spending, neither remind anyone of their favor nor cause any harm by word or deed. To remind someone of a favor after giving them something is a major sin. Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “There are three people with whom Allah will neither speak on the Day of Resurrection, nor look at them, nor purify them, and for them is a painful punishment.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times. Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “They are ruined and lost, O Messenger of Allah! Who are they?” He said: “The one who lets his garment hang below his ankles, the one who reminds others of his favors, and the one who sells his goods by swearing a false oath.” [مسلم، الإیمان، باب بیان غلظ تحریم إسبال … : ۱۰۶ ]

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

262. 1. The mentioned virtue of spending in the way of Allah is attained only by the person who, after spending wealth, does not remind others of his favor, nor utters any word of humiliation that would hurt the self-respect of a poor or needy person and cause him distress. This is such a grave offense that the Prophet ﷺ said: On the Day of Judgment, Allah will not speak to three types of people, one of whom is the one who reminds others of his favor. (Muslim, Kitab al-Iman, Bab Ghalaz Tahrim Isbal al-Izar wa al-Man bil-‘Atiyyah)

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

262. Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders of their generosity [378] or with injury (i.e., they do not demand any forced labor, etc.), their reward is with their Lord. They will have no fear, nor will they grieve.

Reminding of Favors is a Major Sin:

The Prophet ﷺ said: There are three people with whom Allah will neither speak on the Day of Resurrection, nor look at them with mercy, nor purify them. One is the mannan (the one who reminds others of his favors), the second is the one who lets his lower garment hang below his ankles, and the third is the one who sells his goods by swearing a false oath. [مسلم، كتاب الايمان، باب تحريم اسبال الازار و المن بالعطية، تنقيق السلعه بالحلف... الخ] And the jurists have clarified that regarding those actions and deeds about which Allah says that He will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor look at them with mercy, nor purify them—such actions are major sins. Thus, the one who reminds others of his favor after giving charity not only loses the reward of his charity, but also bears the burden of a major sin.
