➋ Rain refers to Islam, darkness and thunder refer to the hardships and calamities encountered in the path of Islam, lightning refers to the successes attained by the Muslims, and the thunderbolts refer to the commands of jihad, in which the hypocrites see death.
➌ Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes: In the religion of Islam, in the end, everything is a blessing, but at first, there is some hardship, just like rain, which ultimately brings prosperity, but at first, there is thunder and lightning. The hypocrites are frightened by the initial hardship and see calamity before them, and just as there is sometimes light and sometimes darkness in the flash of clouds, similarly, in the heart of the hypocrite, there is sometimes affirmation and sometimes denial. ➍ { وَ لَوْ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ...:} And if Allah had willed, He would have taken away their hearing and their sight like the first group, but Allah’s way is that He gives a person the opportunity to hear and see as much as he wishes to hear and see.
➎ {”قَدِيْرٌ:“} is an intensive form, so it has been translated as "fully capable."
