Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

When the hypocrites, despite harboring disbelief in their hearts and supporting the disbelievers, met with the Muslims, they would say { ”اٰمَنَّا“} and considered it a mockery with the people of faith. In response, Allah Almighty also dealt with them in the same way, deciding regarding them that they would be in the lowest depths of Hell, yet in this world, He declared them as Muslims and gave them respite, so that they may increase more and more in their rebellion. He said: «{ اِنَّمَا نُمْلِيْ لَهُمْ لِيَزْدَادُوْۤا اِثْمًا [ آل عمران : ۱۷۸ ] "We only grant them respite so that they may increase in sin." That was their mockery, this is Allah Almighty's mockery. In the Qur'an, such words have been used in response which are rarely used initially. Included in Allah Almighty's mockery with them is also the event that will happen to the hypocrites on the Day of Resurrection: as they will be going along with the Muslims, seeing the way by their light, suddenly, by a wall, they will be pushed towards Hell. Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

1. One meaning of "Allah also mocks them" is that just as they treat the Muslims with mockery and disdain, Allah also deals with them in the same way, subjecting them to humiliation. Expressing this as mockery is a manner of speech; in reality, it is not mockery, but rather the punishment for their actions. Just as the recompense for evil is an evil like it, the recompense for evil is called evil, even though it is not evil but a permissible act. The second meaning is that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will also say to them, as clarified in Surah Hadid, verse (يَوْمَ يَقُوْلُ الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ) 57:13.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

[21] Why are such attributes ascribed to Allah? In some verses of the Quran, certain negative attributes such as mockery, plotting, and deception are ascribed to Allah, and this is merely due to the idiom of the Arabs. It is evident that the Quran was revealed according to the idiom of the Arabs, especially the Quraysh. Such actions are never ascribed to Allah alone, but are used as a response to the actions of the disbelievers. In common parlance, such a situation is called "mushakalah" (correspondence), otherwise the Being of Allah is pure from such attributes. An example of such Arabic idioms is also present in the following verse: ﴿ وَجَزَاءُ سَيِّئَةٍ سَيِّئَةٌ مِثْلُهَا﴾ [42: 40] The recompense of evil is an evil like it (or equal to it).
Whereas, it would be more appropriate to call the recompense of evil as justice, not evil. But in idioms, the word "evil" itself is used. Similarly, here too, Allah's mocking in response means giving the hypocrites a full recompense for their mockery, not mocking in the same way as them. However, in idiom, the word "mockery" itself will be used as a response, and Allah will respond to their mockery in such a way that soon He will expose all their secrets. As a result, these people will be humiliated and disgraced in this world and will face a painful punishment in the Hereafter.

[22] «عَمِهَ» means blindness of the heart or being devoid of the light of insight, whereas for physical blindness the word «عمي» is used. Thus, the hypocrites do not perceive the truth at all.
