And We send down of the Qur’ân that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islâmic Monotheism and act on it), and it increases the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers) nothing but loss.

(Ayah 82) ➊ {وَنُنَزِّلُمِنَالْقُرْاٰنِمَاهُوَشِفَآءٌ … :} That is, in revealing the Quran in small portions, the wisdom is that if any disease of doubt, suspicion, disbelief, or hypocrisy arises in the hearts of the believers, then with the Quranic verses, all those diseases are removed and their hearts and souls attain complete healing and mercy. (The meaning of "complete healing" is indicated by the verbal noun and the tanween.) But for the wrongdoers, that is, the disbelievers and polytheists, it only increases their loss, because by denying these verses along with the previous ones, their disbelief increases even more. Here, healing refers to spiritual healing, that is, the wealth of faith and certainty, which the disbelievers do not attain. See Surah Yunus (57), Ha Mim As-Sajdah (44), and At-Tawbah (124, 125). ➋ Although in this verse, the primary meaning of healing is spiritual healing, that is, healing from disbelief, hypocrisy, doubts, suspicions, and ignorance, by acting upon its commands, a person also attains healing from physical illnesses and remains protected from them. In addition, it is proven from authentic ahadith that if the Quran is recited for ruqyah, then both Muslims and disbelievers are cured of physical illnesses. The summary of the narration of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) is that a tribe who had refused hospitality to some traveling companions (may Allah be pleased with them), by coincidence, the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake. After all their efforts, they came to the companions requesting ruqyah. Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) recited Surah Al-Fatihah for ruqyah on the condition of thirty sheep, and the chief became completely healthy. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of this, he encouraged them. [ بخاری، الإجارۃ، باب ما یعطي في الرقیۃ… : ۲۲۷۶، ۵۰۰۷ ] Similarly, the uncle of Kharijah bin Salat (may Allah be pleased with him) recited Surah Al-Fatihah as ruqyah for a madman chained in iron chains during a journey, and he was cured, and those people gave him one hundred sheep. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ خُذْهَافَلَعَمْرِيْلَمَنْأَكَلَبِرُقْيَةِبَاطِلٍلَقَدْأَكَلْتَبِرُقْيَةِحَقٍّ ][ أبو داوٗد، الطب، باب کیف الرقٰی : ۳۸۹۶، صححہ الألباني ] "(Take the sheep), by my life! Whoever eats with false ruqyah, let him eat; indeed, you have eaten with true ruqyah."

82. And We send down in the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy for the believers [103.1], but it increases the wrongdoers only in loss.
[103۔ 1] That is, this Quran is indeed an elixir and a source of healing, but for those who believe in it and consider it to be from Allah. It removes all the diseases of their hearts, such as disbelief, polytheism, hypocrisy, envy, malice, miserliness, ill-intent, etc., and after curing these vile traits, it becomes a cause of mercy, love, compassion, and affection for one another in society. However, those who are determined to oppose and mock the Quran, their misfortune only increases with every verse and every surah of the Quran. This attitude will ruin them both in this world and in the Hereafter.
