Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah45){اَفَاَمِنَ الَّذِيْنَ مَكَرُوا …:} "Fa" is a conjunction, but the interrogative hamzah in Arabic comes at the beginning of the sentence, so whether it is the conjunction "fa" or "waaw," it is brought after the interrogative hamzah. Therefore, in the translation, the meaning of the conjunction is rendered first. In these three verses, Allah Almighty has warned those who plot against the Messenger and the believers, despite seeing and hearing clear proofs and the Book, of four types of punishment. The first is: have they become fearless of the fact that Allah Almighty may cause the earth to swallow them up and not even a trace of them remains, just as Allah Almighty said about Qarun: «{ فَخَسَفْنَا بِهٖ وَ بِدَارِهِ الْاَرْضَ [ القصص : ۸۱ ] "So We caused the earth to swallow him and his house." In our own observation, during the earthquake in Azad Kashmir, the earth split open in several places and many people and houses sank into it; then, with subsequent tremors, those cracks in the earth closed up again and not even a trace of those who had sunk remained. The second is that punishment may seize them from a place where they could not even imagine that punishment could come from, and due to its sudden arrival, they would neither be able to defend against it nor escape from it. Similar to this is the statement of Allah Almighty: «{ فَاَتٰىهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَحْتَسِبُوْا [ الحشر : ۲ ] "So Allah came upon them from where they had not expected."
