Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah123) ➊ {ثُمَّ اَوْحَيْنَاۤ اِلَيْكَ اَنِ اتَّبِعْ …:} That is, in all matters related to halal and haram and religion, the origin is neither Judaism, nor Christianity, nor the polytheism which these disbelievers of Makkah are committing. Rather, the origin is the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), which was pure monotheism, and in it, those things were not forbidden which were later made forbidden for the Jews due to their mischief. Therefore, if there is any religion worthy of your following, it is only the religion of Ibrahim. (Ibn Kathir)
➋ The word {’’ ثُمَّ ‘‘} here is not for actual sequence but for the order of mention, and at the end, among the virtues of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), a very great virtue has been stated, that is, along with these virtues, look at this virtue of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (who, although from the descendants of Ibrahim, is the leader of all the children of Adam) was also commanded to follow the religion of Ibrahim. In the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) being a follower of the religion of Ibrahim, not only is the virtue of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) evident, but also the greatness of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is manifest, that being commanded to follow the religion of Ibrahim became a cause of virtue for Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

123. 1. The meaning of مِلَّۃَ is such a religion which Allah Almighty has, through one of His prophets, declared as suitable and necessary for people from the beginning. Even though the Prophet ﷺ is the leader of all the prophets and the children of Adam, he was commanded to follow the Millat of Ibrahim, which proves the distinctive and special virtue of Ibrahim (علیہ السلام). In such a principle, the Shariah and Millat of all the prophets have remained the same, in which, along with prophethood, monotheism and the Hereafter have a fundamental status.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Then We revealed to you: “Follow the faith of Abraham, the upright one [125]; and he was not of the polytheists.”

Only Four Fundamental Things Were Forbidden in the Shari'ah of Sayyiduna Ibrahim:

That is, if today there is any follower of the religion of Ibrahim, it is only this Last Prophet to whom We have commanded to follow the religion of Ibrahim. Apart from him, neither the polytheists of Makkah are followers of Sayyiduna Ibrahim, nor the Jews, nor the Christians, even though all of them wish to trace their lineage to Sayyiduna Ibrahim and consider it a matter of pride. This is because these people are polytheists, while Sayyiduna Ibrahim was not a polytheist. The polytheism of the polytheists of Makkah is obvious. The polytheism of the Jews was that they made Sayyiduna Uzair the son of Allah. Also, they declared many lawful things unlawful for themselves, as a result of which Allah also made those things unlawful for them. And the Christians are also polytheists, who have made three gods instead of one.
