Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah102) ➊ The meaning of gradual revelation is found in {قُلْنَزَّلَهٗرُوْحُالْقُدُسِمِنْرَّبِّكَبِالْحَقِّ : ’’نَزَّلَ‘‘}. (See Bani Isra'il: 106){ ’’ رُوْحُالْقُدُسِ ‘‘} means Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him. Here, { ’’ رُوْحُ ‘‘} (described) is annexed to {’’ الْقُدُسِ ‘‘} (attribute), which is a verbal noun. Its meaning is purity and cleanliness, but here the verbal noun is used in the sense of the passive participle { ’’ مُقَدَّسٌ ‘‘}, that is, {’’اَلرُّوْحُالْمُقَدَّسُ‘‘ } the verbal noun has been brought in place of the passive participle for emphasis, meaning that spirit which is entirely pure and clean, just as {’’رَجُلُصِدْقٍ‘‘} and {’’خَبَرُسُوْءٍ‘‘ } are, which were originally {’’اَلرَّجُلُالصَّادِقُ‘‘} and {’’اَلْخَبَرُالسَّيِّءُ‘‘}. The meaning of {’’ مِنْرَّبِّكَ ‘‘} is that the revelation of the Qur'an is from Allah, it is not the speech of any creature, and it is a requirement of His Lordship, otherwise the training would not be complete. And the meaning of {’’ بِالْحَقِّ ‘‘ } is that there is nothing in it that is false; it is exactly in accordance with the requirements of all eras from the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) until the Day of Judgment, and it is the truth.
➋ { لِيُثَبِّتَالَّذِيْنَاٰمَنُوْا :} so that it may firmly establish the believers upon faith, and so that they may understand both the abrogating and abrogated (verses) from Allah. Therefore, when they understand the wisdom found in the abrogation of some rulings, their feet will be firmly planted upon faith and their beliefs will be strengthened. Shah Abdul Qadir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes: "In the Noble Qur'an, Allah Most High has often abrogated (rulings); the disbelievers raise doubts about this, and its answer has been explained, that is, for every time, a ruling appropriate to that time was sent, so the faith of the believers becomes strong that our Lord is aware of every condition." (Mawduh)
➌ { وَهُدًىوَّبُشْرٰىلِلْمُسْلِمِيْنَ: ’’ هُدًى ‘‘} meaning, in every situation, He shows the way accordingly, and {’’ بُشْرٰى ‘‘} gives glad tidings in every matter accordingly. (Mawduh) To understand its correct and complete meaning, be sure to consult the commentary of Surah Al-Ankabut, verses (50, 51).
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
12. 1 That is, this Quran is not something fabricated by Muhammad himself, rather it has been sent down with truth from the Lord by a pure being like Jibreel (Gabriel) عليه السلام. As mentioned elsewhere, (نَزَلَبِهِالرُّوْحُالْاَمِيْنُ 193ۙ عَلٰيقَلْبِكَلِتَكُوْنَمِنَالْمُنْذِرِيْنَ 194ۙ) 26. Ash-Shu'ara: 194-193) "The trustworthy Spirit (Jibreel عليه السلام) has brought it down upon your heart." 12. 2 This is because they say that both the abrogating and the abrogated are from the Lord. Moreover, when the wisdom behind abrogation is presented to them, it increases their steadfastness and strengthens their faith. 12. 3 And this Quran is a source of guidance and glad tidings for the Muslims, because the Quran is like rain, from which some lands become lush and fertile, while in others nothing grows except thorny bushes. The heart of a believer is pure and clear, which becomes illuminated by the blessings of the Quran and the light of faith, while the heart of a disbeliever is like barren land, filled with the darkness of disbelief and misguidance, where even the radiance of the Quran has no effect.
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
Say, "The Holy Spirit [106] has brought it down from your Lord with truth, gradually, so that He may strengthen the faith of those who believe, and as guidance and good news for the Muslims."
[106] What is Meant by Ruh al-Qudus?
The pure soul or the spirit of purity, and by this is meant Jibril ؑ, who is free from all kinds of human weaknesses. He is neither treacherous, nor a liar, nor a fabricator. He neither omits anything from the Word of Allah that is revealed, nor can he add to it. He cannot alter or abrogate it, rather he delivers the Word of Allah exactly as it is to the heart of the Prophet.
[107] The Benefits of Gradual Revelation of the Quran:
In the revelation of the Quran, the gradualness that was observed according to the demands of circumstances has two major benefits. One is that through the repetition of commands, faith is gradually strengthened and firmness and steadfastness are produced in it. The second is that the disbelievers of Makkah used to inflict unjust oppression and hardships upon the Muslims day after day. Therefore, it was necessary to repeatedly comfort the Muslims, to keep them steadfast in the face of hardships, to keep them on the straight path in this world, to encourage them to endure hardships, and to give them glad tidings of Paradise. [Regarding the gradualness and change in rulings, please also see the footnote for verse 106 of Surah Al-Baqarah.]
