إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ ﴿75﴾

Surely! In this are signs for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allâh).

(Ayah75){اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ …: ’’ لِلْمُتَوَسِّمِيْنَ ‘‘ } This is the active participle of the verb form "tafa‘‘ul" from {’’ وَسْمٌ، سِمَةٌ ‘‘}. {’’ وَسْمٌ‘‘} means a mark, especially the one made on a camel or horse with hot iron. {’’مِيْسَمٌ‘‘} is the tool used for branding after heating. To reach the depth of a matter by observing the signs is called {’’تَوَسُّمٌ‘‘}, that is, for those who reflect and have deep insight, there are many instructive signs in these towns.

75. Surely, in this incident there are many signs for those who use their insight [39].

[39] By "mutawassim" is meant those people who have the ability to reach a conclusion from indications, signs, and traces—that is, for those who reflect and pay attention, the people of understanding, there are many instructive signs in this incident of Lut.
