Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

From (Ayah 70) {قَالُوْۤا اَوَ لَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ: ’’ لَمْ نَنْهَكَ ‘‘ ’’ نَهَي يَنْهٰي‘‘}, the plural first person of negation in the active voice is understood. The alif of {’’ نَنْهٰي‘‘} has been omitted due to {’’لَمْ‘‘}, and the kaf pronoun is the object. That is, even if you make the whole world your guests, will we leave all of them? Did we not forbid you that, while we are present, you should not make foreign travelers your guests and should not support anyone against us? How wicked and perverted in nature these people were, who would not even spare guests or passersby coming to their city, nor did they feel any shame in it.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

70. 1. They displayed bad manners and said, O Lot! What is your relation to these strangers? And why are you supporting them? Did we not forbid you from supporting strangers, or from making them your guests! All this conversation took place when Prophet Lot (AS) did not know that these strange guests were angels sent by Allah and that they had come to destroy the very people who were intent on committing indecency with these angels, as has been detailed in Surah Hud. Here, the mention of them being angels has come earlier.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

70. They said, "Did we not forbid you from supporting people from all over the world [35]?"

[35] From this verse, it is understood that these people had already told Sayyiduna Lut (peace be upon him) not to give refuge to travelers and strangers in his home. It means that in their city, even the honor of a traveler was not safe. Besides sodomy, there were further evils present among them: after committing indecency with travelers, they would snatch their belongings and drive them out of their settlement. Now, upon seeing these handsome young men, how could they restrain themselves from their actions? They immediately said that we have already told you not to act as the guardian of the whole world and not to give refuge to any traveler in your home. If you just look after your own well-being, that is a big deal.
