He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me."

(Ayah62){قَالَ اِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنْكَرُوْنَ :} Those whom one does not know, strangers, unfamiliar. Just as Ibrahim (peace be upon him) did not recognize them, likewise Lut (peace be upon him) also could not recognize them. This clearly proves that, like all other creatures, these two great Prophets were also not ‘Alim al-Ghayb’ (knowers of the unseen), otherwise they would have known them before their arrival and would have been aware of their coming. In fact, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) would have already known that he would be granted Ishaq at such an old age, and Lut (peace be upon him) would have already known the fate of his people. But the result of this would be that Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) patience in sacrificing Ismail (peace be upon him), his steadfastness when thrown into the fire, his patience in the trial of the oppression of the tyrant of Egypt, his patience in leaving Hajar and Ismail in a barren valley—all of these would not remain trials at all. Because if one already knows that nothing will harm him, then anyone could jump into the fire and be ready to put a knife to his son’s neck. The Command and Instructions for Sayyiduna Lut and the Family of Lut to Leave:

When these angels came to Lut (peace be upon him), they came in the form of handsome, beardless young men. These guests of Sayyiduna Lut (peace be upon him) were completely unfamiliar. He also sensed danger from their arrival, but the nature of his fear was entirely different. He knew the condition of his people, and these young men were very handsome, so inwardly he was extremely fearful of the situation that might arise. The angels informed him of the real situation and removed his fear. Along with this, they also told him that the measure of this criminal people’s sins had now overflowed. Therefore, we have been sent for their complete destruction. Now you should do this: when the deep night falls, take your family and the believing people with you and leave from here. However, your wife will not go with you, because she is equally involved in the sins of these people. At dawn, punishment will descend upon them, and when you leave, you yourself should remain at the rear, and none of your people should look back, because this is neither the time to watch the spectacle nor to shed tears over the destruction of the criminal people. Rather, if anyone remains behind, it is possible that he may also suffer some harm.
