Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah48) ➊ {يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الْاَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْاَرْضِ وَ السَّمٰوٰتُ:} From this it is understood that on the Day of Resurrection, the present form and appearance of the earth and heavens will be changed. Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ تَكُوْنُ الْأَرْضُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ خُبْزَةً وَاحِدَةً يَتَكَفَّؤُهَا الْجَبَّارُ بِيَدِهِ كَمَا يَكْفَؤُ أَحَدُكُمْ خُبْزَتَهُ فِي السَّفَرِ نُزُلًا لِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ] [ بخاري، الرقاق، باب یقبض اللہ الأرض یوم القیامۃ : ۶۵۲۰۔ مسلم : ۲۷۹۲ ] "On the Day of Resurrection, the earth will become one loaf of bread, and the Compeller (Allah Almighty) will turn it over with His hand just as one of you turns over his bread while traveling, as a hospitality for the people of Paradise." Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) states that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: [ يُحْشَرُ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلٰی أَرْضٍ بَيْضَاءَ عَفْرَاءَ كَقُرْصَةِ نَقِيٍّ، لَيْسَ فِيْهَا مَعْلَمٌ لِأَحَدٍ ] [ بخاري، الرقاق، باب یقبض اللّٰہ الأرض یوم القیامۃ : ۶۵۲۱۔ مسلم : ۲۷۹۰ ] "People will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection on a white, reddish-white earth, like a loaf made of fine flour, in which there will be no mark for anyone." It is also mentioned in the Noble Qur'an that on the Day of Resurrection, the earth will become a smooth, level plain in which no elevation or depression will be seen. (See Ta-Ha: 105 to 107) As for the question whether this change will be in the essence of the earth and heavens or in their attributes, nothing is established from the Noble Qur'an or the Hadith of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding this, so we must believe in what is apparent from the words of the Qur'an.

{ وَ بَرَزُوْا لِلّٰهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ:} This is said in refutation of those polytheists who consider their partners to have some authority, that on that day all people will be presented before that Allah Almighty who is alone, the Most Mighty, and no one else will have any authority.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

48. 1. Imam Shawkani states that there are both possibilities in the verse: that this change may be in terms of attributes or in terms of essence. That is, these heavens and earth will be changed in their attributes, or there will be an actual change in essence—neither the earth will remain nor these heavens. The earth will be something else and the heavens will be something else. In a hadith, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "یحشر الناس یوم القیامۃ علی الارض بیضاء عفراء کقرصہ النقی لیس فیھا علم لا حد." (Sahih Muslim) On the Day of Resurrection, people will be gathered on a white, brownish earth, like a fine bread, in which there will be no flag (or symbolic sign) for anyone. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked, when these heavens and earth will be changed, then where will the people be on that day? The Prophet ﷺ replied: "On the Sirat," that is, on the Bridge of Sirat (referenced above). In response to a Jew's question, he ﷺ said that "on that day, people will be near the bridge in darkness." (Sahih Muslim)

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

48. On the Day when the earth will be changed to another earth, and the heavens as well, and all people will appear before Allah, the One, the Supreme.

The Presentation of People in the Court of Allah and the Reckoning:

At the time of the first blowing of the Trumpet, the present system of the universe will be thrown into disorder, as is evident from Surah Takwir and some other verses. After this, what changes will occur until the second blowing of the Trumpet and how long this intermediate period will last—this is known only to Allah. Upon the second blowing of the Trumpet, a new system of the universe will be brought into existence, in which either the very essence of the present earth and heavens will be changed, or there will be considerable alteration in their form. The wording of the verse allows for both meanings. At this very second blowing, all human beings created from Adamؑ until the Day of Resurrection will be recreated and presented before Allah Almighty. These events are termed Hashr wa Nashr in the terminology of the Quran. For this new earth and new heavens, the natural laws will also be different from the present laws, and it is on this earth that the court of Allah Almighty will be established. The Scale of Deeds will be set up, and decisions of reward and punishment will be made according to people’s deeds. From some verses of the Quran, the form of change in the earth that emerges is that on that day there will remain no elevation or depression in the earth. All mountains will be leveled to the ground and all pits will be filled, thus the surface of the earth will become flat and will increase greatly from before. The most significant change will be that the seas, rivers, and streams will be dried up. And since the area of the sea’s surface is three times greater than that of the land, in this way, the earth at that time, after being changed, will be at least four times larger than the present earth, and secondly, that earth will be completely level.
