Those who prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allâh (i.e. Islâm) and seek crookedness therein - they are far astray.

(Ayah 3) ➊ { الَّذِيْنَيَسْتَحِبُّوْنَالْحَيٰوةَالدُّنْيَاعَلَىالْاٰخِرَةِ : ’’ يَسْتَحِبُّوْنَ ‘‘} With the addition of the letters "Seen" and "Taa," the meaning has been intensified, that is, Allah does not even like that one should prefer the world over the Hereafter, whereas these disbelievers love the world much more than the Hereafter. It is understood from this that love for worldly things becomes destructive when it prevails over the love of Allah; otherwise, benefiting from the world is also permissible for a believer. In fact, under the love of Allah and according to His commands, loving one's wife, children, friends, wealth, etc., is a natural thing, and fulfilling their rights brings reward. On the contrary, monasticism is a war against this nature, which Allah does not like.
➋ {وَيَصُدُّوْنَعَنْسَبِيْلِاللّٰهِ … :} That is, the path of Allah, which is absolutely straight and flawless, the disbelievers try to find faults in it and call it crooked, so that they can prevent people from adopting it. (Ibn Kathir)

3. 1. One meaning of this is that they find faults in the teachings of Islam to create suspicion among people, and present them in a distorted manner. The second meaning is that they want to alter it according to their own motives and desires. 3. 2. This is because several of the aforementioned evils have accumulated in them. For example, preferring the world over the Hereafter, preventing people from the path of Allah, and seeking crookedness in Islam.

3. Those who prefer the life of this world over the Hereafter, and hinder others from the way of Allah and seek to make it crooked—these are the ones who have gone far astray. [2][3]
[2] According to the Quran, Who Are the Disbelievers?
That is, those whose entire efforts are devoted to worldly interests and their attainment, and they have no concern for the Hereafter. They are ready to sacrifice the successes and prosperity of the Hereafter for the sake of this world, but they are not willing to bear any loss in this world for the sake of attaining salvation and success in the Hereafter. Furthermore, they also strive to entice others towards these worldly interests so that they do not come to the path of Allah, or they create obstacles in the way of those who walk on the path of truth, and subject them to their oppression and excesses, or they try to derive paths of misguidance from this very Quran. Such disbelievers will have to face a destructive punishment—both in this world and in the Hereafter.
[3] Forms of Deviation in the Path of Allah:
This address is general for everyone, whether disbelievers or Muslims. To create deviation means that the command of the religion is accepted only if it aligns with one's own desires, and if it does not, then it is either abandoned, denied, or interpreted in such a way that Allah's command is molded according to one's own wishes. Generally, there are only two reasons for adopting this deviation: one is following one's own desires, and the other is being overawed by the ideologies of the present age. And those afflicted with this disease are more often the evil scholars than the common people. Such people often reach the extreme of misguidance from where their return becomes impossible.
