Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah24) ➊ The meaning of { سَلٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ: ’’ سَلٰمٌ ‘‘} is that now you have become safe from every calamity, sorrow, grief, and distress. Hafiz Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) has, in this context, narrated the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The people said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "The first to enter Paradise among Allah's creation will be the poor and the emigrants, through whom the borders were kept safe and undesirable situations were avoided, and when any of them died, his heartfelt wish remained within his chest, he could not fulfill it. So Allah, the Exalted, will command whomever He wills from among His angels to go to them and greet them with peace. The angels will say, 'We are the dwellers of Your heaven and the chosen ones from among Your creation; do You command us to go to them and greet them with peace?' Allah, the Exalted, will say, 'These are My servants; they used to worship Me, did not associate anything with Me, the borders were kept safe through them, and undesirable situations were avoided through them. When any of them died, his heartfelt wish remained within his chest, he could not fulfill it.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'So at that time the angels will come to them and will enter upon them from every door (and will say): "Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. So excellent is the final home."'"

{ بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ …:} It is understood that after accepting faith, the foundation of persevering in every command, abstaining from every evil, being content with every decree of Allah, and being pleased with Allah in every hardship and ease—in short, steadfastness on every aspect of the religion—is patience itself, and its reward is without measure. He said: «{ اِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصّٰبِرُوْنَ اَجْرَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ [ الزمر : ۱۰ ] "Only those who are patient will be given their reward without account."
