Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah64) ➊ { قَالَ هَلْ اٰمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ …:} He said, when you took Yusuf (peace be upon him) away, you said the same thing—{’’اِنَّا لَهٗ لَحٰفِظُوْنَ ‘‘}—then you protected him so well that to this day there is no news of that poor soul. So, should I trust your protection regarding him the same way I trusted you before regarding his brother?

{ فَاللّٰهُ خَيْرٌ حٰفِظًا…: } That is, I am sending him with you out of necessity for grain, so I am not entrusting him to your protection, but rather I am entrusting him to Allah’s protection. He, the Most Merciful of the merciful, will protect him with His mercy. Ibn Kathir says that when Yaqub (peace be upon him) sent Yusuf (peace be upon him) with his brothers, he only said: «{ وَ اَخَافُ اَنْ يَّاْكُلَهُ الذِّئْبُ } » [ یوسف : ۱۳ ] (And I fear that a wolf may eat him). Now, when he entrusted his brother to Allah’s protection by saying {’’ فَاللّٰهُ خَيْرٌ حٰفِظًا وَّ هُوَ اَرْحَمُ الرّٰحِمِيْنَ ‘‘}, not only did he get Yusuf’s brother back, but Yusuf (peace be upon him) as well.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

64. 1. That is, when you took Yusuf ؑ with you, you made a similar promise of protection, but what happened is before me; now how can I trust you?
64. 2. However, since there was a severe need for grain, despite the apprehension, he did not consider it appropriate to refuse to send Binyamin along, and, relying on Allah, expressed willingness to send him.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Yaqub said, "Should I trust you with him as I trusted you with his brother before [61]? Allah is the best guardian, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful."

The Brothers’ Insistence on Taking Binyamin and the Father’s Refusal:

When the brothers of Yusuf returned to their home, that is, Canaan, they immediately informed their respected father of the conversation that had taken place between them and the King of Egypt. They also explained in detail that if you do not send Binyamin with us, then we will never be able to get grain, and the provision of grain is the most important and urgent need of this time. Therefore, you must send him with us, and as far as it is within our power, we will surely protect him. Sayyiduna Yaqubؑ replied to them that you said exactly the same thing when you took Yusufؑ with you. Then who knows what happened to him; what correct information did you ever give me? And since that time, my only prayer for him has been that Allah keep him alive, safe, steadfast, and under His protection. Wherever he may be, I have always sought Allah’s mercy for him. And now you want to separate this youngest son from me as well; this can never happen.
