وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱئْتُونِى بِهِۦٓ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِى ۖ فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهُۥ قَالَ إِنَّكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ لَدَيْنَا مَكِينٌ أَمِينٌ ﴿54﴾
And the king said: "Bring him to me that I may attach him to my person." Then, when he spoke to him, he said: "Verily, this day, you are with us high in rank and fully trusted."
وَقَالَ waqāla And said
ٱلْمَلِكُ l-maliku the king
ٱئْتُونِى i'tūnī Bring him to me
بِهِۦٓ bihi Bring him to me
أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ astakhliṣ'hu I will select him
لِنَفْسِى ۖ linafsī for myself
فَلَمَّا falammā Then when
كَلَّمَهُۥ kallamahu he spoke to him
قَالَ qāla he said
إِنَّكَ innaka Indeed, you
ٱلْيَوْمَ l-yawma (are) today
لَدَيْنَا ladaynā with us
مَكِينٌ makīnun firmly established
أَمِينٌۭ amīnun (and) trusted

(Ayah 54){اَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِيْ :} From here, another phase of the life of Yusuf (peace be upon him) begins, when slavery and imprisonment ended and freedom and rule and sovereignty were granted. {’’ اَسْتَخْلِصْهُ ‘‘} Here the king {’’اُخْلِصْهُ‘‘} could also have said, as in «{ اِنَّهٗ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُخْلَصِيْنَ [ یوسف : ۲۴ ] the verb form of "af‘al" is used. In {’’ اَسْتَخْلِصْهُ ‘‘}, the "seen" and "taa" are for emphasis, meaning "I will especially make him exclusively mine to the utmost." When the king heard the correct interpretation of his dream from Yusuf (peace be upon him), then saw that despite being called, he refused to leave the prison until his innocence was proven after spending several years in prison without guilt, then heard the confirmation of his chastity and innocence from all the concerned women, even the wife of Aziz, he became so eager for his personality that he ordered, "Bring him to me, I will make him exclusively mine." Then, when Yusuf (peace be upon him) personally spoke to him, after having absolute certainty of his vast knowledge, excellent character, and other good qualities, the king said, "From today, you are established and trusted in our presence," meaning, you are a person of authority and trust. {’’ مَكِيْنٌ ‘‘} This {’’مَكَانَةٌ‘‘} (rank) refers to one that is attained by only one or a few. See its usage in the Qur'an, when in the context of revelation, Jibreel (peace be upon him) is mentioned, Allah Almighty said: «{ اِنَّهٗ لَقَوْلُ رَسُوْلٍ كَرِيْمٍ (19) ذِيْ قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِيْنٍ (20) مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَمِيْنٍ [ التکویر : ۱۹ تا ۲۱ ] "Indeed, this is surely the word of a noble messenger. Possessor of great strength, established in position with the Owner of the Throne. Obeyed there, trustworthy." And you know what rank Jibreel (peace be upon him) holds among the angels, that to all the prophets and messengers of the children of Adam, he was chosen as the messenger from Allah, and Allah Almighty declared him to be one of His greatest signs, saying: «{ لَقَدْ رَاٰى مِنْ اٰيٰتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرٰى [ النجم : ۱۸ ] "Indeed, he saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord." No angel is known to us who is closer to Allah than him. {’’ اَمِيْنٌ ‘‘} That is, in your person, in the affairs and secrets of the kingdom, and in the lives and wealth of all people, and in justice among them, you are completely trustworthy in our presence; we have full confidence in your trustworthiness.

54. 1 When the king Rayyan bin Waleed became aware of Yusuf’s (AS) knowledge and excellence, as well as the nobility of his character and his chastity, he ordered that he be brought before him, saying: I want to choose him for myself, that is, to make him my companion and special advisor.

54. The king said (to his messenger): "Bring him to me; I want to appoint him exclusively for myself [53]." When Yusuf came and spoke with him, the king said: "From today, you are surely established in our presence, trusted and honored."

The King of Egypt’s Offer to Yusuf (علیہ السلام):

The king had become greatly impressed by the personality of Sayyiduna Yusuf (علیہ السلام). Even before his imprisonment, he had heard of your pure character. His cupbearer had praised him greatly. In the matter of dream interpretation, he was deeply impressed by his knowledge, wisdom, and insight, and now, in the present case, your complete exoneration had further increased your value and status in his heart. Therefore, he ordered his envoy to summon Yusuf (علیہ السلام) and also informed him that he wished to make him his chief administrator. Then, when he (علیہ السلام) came to the king and they conversed, in the end, the king said to you that from today you are a person of authority with us, and we have complete trust in your honesty and trustworthiness.
