Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 49) ➊ It can be from {ثُمَّ يَاْتِيْ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ ذٰلِكَ عَامٌ …:’’ يُغَاثُ ‘‘ ’’غَيْثٌ‘‘} and also from {’’غَوْثٌ‘‘}. If it is from {’’غَيْثٌ‘‘}, then rains will be sent down, and if it is from {’’غَوْثٌ‘‘}, then help will be given. {’’ يَعْصِرُوْنَ ‘‘} "they will press" means that in that year, those fruits from which juice is extracted, such as grapes, lemons, etc., and those seeds from which oil is extracted, such as olives, mustard, etc., will be produced in abundance, and the animals will also give plenty of milk due to getting good fodder. On this basis, some have taken the meaning of { ’’ يَعْصِرُوْنَ ‘‘} as {’’يَحْلِبُوْنَ‘‘} (they will milk). The statement that after seven years of famine, a year of prosperity will come, was told in addition to the dream, either through divine revelation, or by deducing from the counting of the dry years being seven, that they remain seven only when at least one year of prosperity follows them, and also from the fact that Allah's mercy also demands ease after hardship.

➋ From this, it is known that sometimes a disbeliever's dream is also true, if the disbelief of the king is established. Before this, the dreams of both prisoners, who were polytheists, also turned out to be true. Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, has also deduced from this in {’’ كِتَابُ التَّعْبِيْرِ ‘‘}: {’’ بَابُ رُؤْيَا أَهْلِ السُّجُوْنِ وَالْفَسَادِ وَالشِّرْكِ ‘‘} "The statement regarding the dreams of prisoners and the people of shirk and corruption."

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

49. 1. That is, after the years of famine have passed, there will be abundant rainfall, resulting in plentiful produce, and you will extract juice from grapes, oil from olives, and milk from animals. The subtle connection between the interpretation of the dream and the dream itself can only be understood by one whom Allah grants such authentic intuition, sound taste, and firm ability as Allah granted to Yusuf (عليه السلام).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

49. Then after that, there will come a year in which people will be given relief by abundant rain [48], and in that year they will press (juice and oil).

[48] According to this verse, the glad tidings given by Sayyiduna Yusuf ؑ were not part of the king's dream or its interpretation. However, according to the knowledge Allah had granted him, he ؑ also gave people the good news that after these fourteen years, the fifteenth year would come in which there would be abundant rainfall, and all those things from which oil or juice could be extracted would yield plentiful produce. There would be abundant agriculture, the udders of the animals would be filled with milk, and especially, people would extract wine from grapes and the like. This last point was mentioned according to the questioner's situation, because that was his occupation.
