Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 2) ➊ { اَلَّا تَعْبُدُوْۤا اِلَّا اللّٰهَ:} That is, this Quran has been revealed so that none should be worshipped except Allah, rather every messenger was sent by Allah for this very purpose. He said: «{ وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَّسُوْلٍ اِلَّا نُوْحِيْۤ اِلَيْهِ اَنَّهٗ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنَا فَاعْبُدُوْنِ [ الأنبیاء : ۲۵ ] “And We did not send any messenger before you except that We revealed to him that there is no deity except Me, so worship Me.” In Surah An-Nahl (36) as well, the purpose of sending every messenger is stated as the command to worship Allah alone and the emphasis on avoiding Taghut.

{اِنَّنِيْ لَكُمْ مِّنْهُ نَذِيْرٌ وَّ بَشِيْرٌ : } Thus, the Prophet (peace be upon him) first presented Allah’s command to his household—Umm al-Mu’minin Khadijah, Zayd, Ali, and his close friend Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them)—and they believed. Then, when this verse was revealed: «{وَ اَنْذِرْ عَشِيْرَتَكَ الْاَقْرَبِيْنَ [ الشعراء : ۲۱۴ ] “And warn your closest relatives,” he climbed Mount Safa, called out to gather the tribes of Quraysh, and conveyed Allah’s message to them. [ بخاری : ۴۷۷۰ ] Then, under Allah’s command: «{وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ اِلَّا كَآفَّةً لِّلنَّاسِ بَشِيْرًا وَّ نَذِيْرًا [ سبا : ۲۸ ] he began the task of warning all the people of the world of Allah’s punishment and delivering the glad tidings of His reward. Thus, before other countries, he conveyed this message to the people of the Arabian Peninsula with gentleness and love, and then through striving in the way of Allah, and gathered them all under the banner of Islam. Then he wrote letters to the kings of the entire world, in which there was both glad tidings and warning. For example, he gave the ruler of Rome, Heraclius, the good news that if you accept Islam, you will be safe and Allah will grant you a double reward, and he also warned that if you turn away from Islam, the burden of your subjects’ disbelief will also be upon your neck. [بخاری : ۷] This message was conveyed to all other rulers as well, and then his successors conveyed this message from east to west.

The explanation of this verse has been given along with the previous verse.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. 2. That you worship none but Allah [2]. Surely, I am a warner and a bearer of good news to you from Him.

The Only Remedy for Corruption in the Land is the Call to Tawheed:

This verse is also a detail of LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAH, that when there is no deity, that is, no true object of worship except Allah, then worship should be devoted to Him alone. This is the very command with which all the Prophets began their call, and it is clear that the Prophets were always sent at times when the inhabited world was filled with oppression and injustice—whether that oppression and injustice was related to filthy beliefs like disbelief and polytheism, or to character and actions. In any case, whatever forms corruption in the land may take, the only and fundamental remedy for all of them is that people should be invited to the pure worship of the One Allah, and that true recognition of Allah should be instilled in them. Then, those who refuse to accept this call should be warned of their evil end in this world and the Hereafter, and those who accept it and act according to its requirements should be given glad tidings of success in this world and the Hereafter.
