ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلْقُرَىٰ نَقُصُّهُۥ عَلَيْكَ ۖ مِنْهَا قَآئِمٌ وَحَصِيدٌ ﴿100﴾
That is some of the news of the (population of) towns which We relate unto you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم); of them, some are (still) standing, and some have been (already) reaped.
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That
مِنْ min (is) from
أَنۢبَآءِ anbāi (the) news
ٱلْقُرَىٰ l-qurā (of) the cities
نَقُصُّهُۥ naquṣṣuhu (which) We relate
عَلَيْكَ ۖ ʿalayka to you
مِنْهَا min'hā of them
قَآئِمٌۭ qāimun some are standing
وَحَصِيدٌۭ waḥaṣīdun and (some) mown

(Ayah 100) {ذٰلِكَ مِنْ اَنْبَآءِ الْقُرٰى … : ’’ مِنْ ‘‘} is for denoting a part (partitive), meaning these are a few of the stories of the past towns that We are relating to you. In this surah, the conditions of the prophets have been mentioned in chronological order, that is, Nuh, Hud, Salih, Ibrahim, Lut, Shu'ayb, and Musa (peace be upon them). { ’’ قَآىِٕمٌ ‘‘} means standing (crop), {’’ حَصِيْدٌ ‘‘ } means the crop that has been harvested, that is, among these towns, the signs of some still remain, for example, the houses carved in the mountains by the people of Salih (peace be upon him), and some have been completely erased, just as the traces of a harvested crop disappear.

10. 1. By "قائم" is meant those towns which are still standing with their roofs intact, and by "حَصِیْد" meaning "محصود" is meant those towns which have been destroyed like harvested fields. That is, among the past towns whose events We are narrating, some are still present, whose ruins and remnants are signs of lesson, and some have completely vanished from existence, and their existence remains only on the pages of history.
