Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 53) ➊ {وَ يَسْتَنْۢبِـُٔوْنَكَ اَحَقٌّ هُوَ … : ’’ نَبَأٌ ‘‘} refers to news of great importance. (Raghib) {’’ يَسْتَنْبِـُٔوْنَ‘‘ ’’ نَبَأٌ‘‘} from the form "istif‘al" is for seeking. When the disbelievers were given the aforementioned answer to their question {’’ مَتٰي هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ ‘‘}, they again again asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) in this context {’’ اَحَقٌّ هُوَ ‘‘} Is this really true, or are we merely being frightened? Since the disbelievers, due to their denial of the Resurrection and the clear arguments of the Qur’an regarding its establishment, were in severe anxiety and distress about whether to accept it or not, Allah Almighty, in response to them, combined several words of emphasis to assure them and said {’’ قُلْ ‘‘} Say to them: The meaning of {اِيْ وَ رَبِّيْۤ اِنَّهٗ لَحَقٌّ ’’ اِيْ‘‘} is {’’ نَعَمْ ‘‘ } that is, yes, but it always comes with an oath, then {’’إِنَّ‘‘ } is for emphasis, then there is the lām of emphasis, that yes, by my Lord, I swear! Indeed, this is certainly the truth. Hafiz Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said, there are only two other verses like this in the Qur’an, in which Allah Almighty commanded to swear when addressing the deniers of the Hereafter.

{وَ مَاۤ اَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِيْنَ :} Due to the presence of "bā’", it has been translated as "never" for emphasis of negation, meaning you can never escape from Our punishment so as to render Us powerless to seize you, nor can you in any way prevent it.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

53. 1. That is, they ask whether this Resurrection and the raising of humans after they have turned to dust is a reality, and Allah Almighty has said, O Prophet! Say to them that your becoming dust and mixing with the earth cannot prevent Allah Almighty from bringing you back to life. Therefore, it will certainly happen. Imam Ibn Kathir states that there are only two other verses in the Quran similar to this verse, in which Allah Almighty has commanded His Prophet to swear an oath and announce the occurrence of the Resurrection. One is Surah Saba, verse 13, and the other is Surah Taghabun, verse 7.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And they ask you, “Is it really true?” Say: By my Lord, it is most certainly true, and you cannot prevent it.

[68] This can refer to everything that the polytheists of Makkah were denying, such as the Quran, the occurrence of Allah's punishment upon them, life after death, and everyone being rewarded or punished according to their deeds, etc. The manner of their questioning itself indicates that they were absolutely unwilling to accept these matters. That is why Allah Almighty instructed His Messenger to say, with full confidence, by swearing an oath by his Lord and making Him a witness, that these matters are such realities that will certainly come to pass, and you can neither prevent them nor can you escape from Allah's grasp of power.
