۞ لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٌ ۖ وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٌ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ﴿26﴾
For those who have done good is the best (reward, i.e. Paradise) and even more (i.e. having the honour of glancing at the Countenance of Allâh جل جلاله). Neither darkness nor dust nor any humiliating disgrace shall cover their faces. They are the dwellers of Paradise, they will abide therein forever.
۞ لِّلَّذِينَ lilladhīna For those who
أَحْسَنُوا۟ aḥsanū do good
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ l-ḥus'nā (is) the best
وَزِيَادَةٌۭ ۖ waziyādatun and more
وَلَا walā And not
يَرْهَقُ yarhaqu (will) cover
وُجُوهَهُمْ wujūhahum their faces
قَتَرٌۭ qatarun dust
وَلَا walā and not
ذِلَّةٌ ۚ dhillatun humiliation
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those
أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ l-janati (of) Paradise
هُمْ hum they
فِيهَا fīhā in it
خَـٰلِدُونَ khālidūna (will) abide forever

(Ayah 26){لِلَّذِيْنَ اَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنٰى وَ زِيَادَةٌ :} The explanation of Ihsan is in the Hadith of Jibreel, he said: [ أَنْ تَعْبُدَ اللّٰهَ كَأَنَّكَ تَرَاهٗ فَإِنْ لَّمْ تَكُنْ تَرَاهٗ فَإِنَّهٗ يَرَاكَ ] [ بخاری، الإیمان، باب سؤال جبریل النبي صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم … : ۵۰ ] "Worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then indeed He sees you." The purpose is that those who worship Allah with sincerity will be granted, along with Paradise, a great additional thing. In {’’ زِيَادَةٌ ‘‘}, the indefinite form is for magnification.

After inviting to Paradise, its blessings are mentioned. In this noble verse, {’’ الْحُسْنٰى ‘‘}, which is the feminine of {’’ أَحْسَنُ‘‘}, means the best reward, and it is said that there is also a great additional thing. {’’ زِيَادَةٌ ‘‘} is a verbal noun in the meaning of an active participle; by this {’’ زِيَادَةٌ ‘‘} is meant the vision of Allah Almighty. This same meaning is stated in Surah An-Nisa (173), An-Nur (38), and Surah Qaf (35). In numerous Sahih hadiths, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has explained it in this way. Thus, Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited this verse: «{ لِلَّذِيْنَ اَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنٰى وَ زِيَادَةٌ and said: "When the people of Paradise enter Paradise and the people of Hell enter Hell, then a caller will call out: 'O people of Paradise! Allah had made a promise to you, and He wants to fulfill it.' They will say: 'What is that promise? Has He not made our scales (of good deeds) heavy? Has He not brightened our faces, admitted us into Paradise, and saved us from the Fire?'" He (peace be upon him) said: [ فَيُكْشَفُ لَهُمُ الْحِجَابُ فَيَنْظُرُوْنَ إِلَيْهِ، قَالَ : ’’ فَوَاللّٰهِ ! مَا أَعْطَاهُمْ شَيْئًا أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّظْرِ إِلَيْهِ وَلاَ أَقَرَّ بِأَعْيُنِهِمْ ] [ مسند أحمد : 333/4، ح : ۱۸۹۶۵۔ مسلم، الإیمان، باب إثبات رؤیۃ المؤمنین… : ۱۸۱ ] "At that time, the veil will be lifted for them and they will see their Lord." Then he said: "By Allah! They will not have been given any blessing more beloved to them than this vision, nor will anything bring more coolness to their eyes than this." 26. 1. Several meanings of this 'more' have been mentioned, but in the hadith its explanation has been given as the vision of Allah, with which the people of Paradise will be honored after being granted the blessings of Paradise (Sahih Muslim).

26. For those who do good, there is a good reward and even more [38]. Neither darkness [39] nor humiliation will cover their faces. They are the inhabitants of Paradise; they will abide therein forever.

The Delight of Seeing Allah:

Sayyiduna Suhaib ؓ says that the Prophet ﷺ said: When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise, a caller will announce that Allah has made another promise to you which He is about to fulfill. The people of Paradise will say: Has He not brightened our faces, saved us from Hell, and admitted us into Paradise? (So what is left now?) The Prophet ﷺ said: "Then Allah, the Exalted, will remove the veil. By Allah! Whatever the people of Paradise have been given, nothing will be more beloved to them than looking towards Allah (the vision of Allah)." [ترمذي، كتاب التفسير] And its other meaning is that the righteous will not only receive a good reward for their deeds, but by Allah's grace and mercy, they will receive much more than that. It could be tenfold, seven hundredfold, or even more, whereas the evildoers will be given only as much punishment as the evil they committed.

[39] That is, on that long Day of Resurrection, whose duration according to this world is equal to fifty thousand years, at no time will there be such darkness and humiliation on the faces of those who did good deeds as will be on the faces of the disbelievers and wicked. Rather, their faces will be fresh, radiant, and luminous.
