Hadith 2131
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقُ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُكَتِبُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْطِي الْعَطِيَّةَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا ، كَالْكَلْبِ أَكَلَ حَتَّى إِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ ، ثُمَّ عَادَ فَرَجَعَ فِي قَيْئِهِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو .
Narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The example of a person who gives a gift and then takes it back is like a dog that keeps eating until it is full, then vomits, and then licks it up again." © Imam Tirmidhi says:

Hadith 2132
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي طَاوُسٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، يَرْفًعَانِ الْحَدِيثَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَحِلُّ للِرَّجُلِ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ عَطِيَّةً ، ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا إِلا الْوِالِدَ فِيمَا يُعْطِي وَلَدَهُ ، وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْطِي الْعَطِيَّةَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا ، كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ أَكَلَ حَتَّى إِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ ثُمَّ عَادَ فِي قَيْئِهِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حِدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، قَالَ الشَّافِعيُّ : لَا يَحِلُّ لِمَنْ وَهَبَ هِبَةً أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فِيهَا إِلَّا الْوَالِدَ فَلَهُ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فِيمَا أَعْطَى وَلَدَهُ ، وَاحجَّ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .
‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar and ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “It is not permissible for a man to give a gift and then take it back, except for a father who gives something to his son (he may take it back). And whoever gives a gift and then takes it back is like a dog that eats until it is full, then vomits, and then eats its vomit.” __REF_N__ Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is hasan sahih.
2- Shafi’i says: It is not permissible for the giver of a gift to take it back except for a father, because it is permissible for him to take back what he has given to his son. He has deduced this from this hadith.
