‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came from the toilet, and food was presented to him. The companions said: “Shall we bring water for you to perform ablution?” He replied: “I have been commanded to perform ablution only when I go for prayer.” © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is hasan sahih (good and authentic),
2- ‘Amr bin Dinar narrated it from Sa‘id bin Huwairith from Ibn ‘Abbas,
3- ‘Ali bin al-Madini says: Yahya bin Sa‘id said: Sufyan al-Thawri considered it disliked to wash the hands before eating, and he also considered it disliked to place bread under the bowl.
