باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الاِكْتِحَالِ

Hadith 1757
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ نَحْوَهُ . وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالإِثْمِدِ فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ .
With this chain also, a similar hadith is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). This hadith has come from the Prophet (peace be upon him) through several chains, he said: "Use antimony kohl, for it brightens the eyesight and grows the eyelashes."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ هُوَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " اكْتَحِلُوا بِالْإِثْمِدِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ ، وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ " ، وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَتْ لَهُ مُكْحُلَةٌ يَكْتَحِلُ بِهَا كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ ، ثَلَاثَةً فِي هَذِهِ ، وَثَلَاثَةً فِي هَذِهِ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْإِثْمِدِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ ، وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ " ، قَالَ : وَفِي الْبَاب ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، وَابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ عَلَى هَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ .
‘Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Apply antimony (kohl), for it brightens the eyesight and grows the eyelashes.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a kohl container from which he would apply kohl three times in this (right eye) and three times in this (left eye) every night.” © Imam Tirmidhi says:

2- We know it with these words only from the narration of ‘Abad bin Mansur,
3- In this chapter, there are also ahadith from Jabir and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them).

Hadith 1757
