باب مَا جَاءَ فِي جَرِّ ذُيُولِ النِّسَاءِ

Hadith 1731
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلَّالُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ خُيَلَاءَ ، لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ : فَكَيْفَ يَصْنَعْنَ النِّسَاءُ بِذُيُولِهِنَّ ؟ قَالَ : " يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا " ، فَقَالَتْ : إِذًا تَنْكَشِفُ أَقْدَامُهُنَّ ، قَالَ : " فَيُرْخِينَهُ ذِرَاعًا لَا يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ " ، قَالَ : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
'Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever drags his garment out of pride, Allah, the Exalted, will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection." Umm Salamah said: "What should women do with their hems?" He said: "Let them lower it by a handspan." She said: "Then their feet will be uncovered." He said: "Let them lower it by a handspan, and do not let them lower it more than that." © Imam Tirmidhi says: This hadith is hasan sahih.
Hadith 1732
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُمْ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " شَبَّرَ لِفَاطِمَةَ شِبْرًا مِنْ نِطَاقِهَا " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَرَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَفِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ رُخْصَةٌ لِلنِّسَاءِ فِي جَرِّ الْإِزَارِ ، لِأَنَّهُ يَكُونُ أَسْتَرَ لَهُنَّ .
‘Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) estimated a handspan for Fatimah’s «نطاق». 1© Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- Some people have narrated it with the chain of «حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن الحسن عن أمه عن أم سلمة»,
2- In this hadith, women are permitted to let their lower garment (sheet) drag, because it provides them with greater covering.
