Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that during the Battle of Ahzab, Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck by an arrow; the disbelievers had cut his Akhil or Abjal vein (a vein in the arm). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cauterized it with fire, so his hand swelled, and thus he left it. Then the blood began to flow again, so he cauterized it again, and his hand swelled. When Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) saw this, he prayed: “O Allah! Do not take my soul until my eyes are cooled by (witnessing) the destruction and humiliation of Banu Qurayzah.” So his vein stopped bleeding, and not a single drop of blood dripped from it, until Banu Qurayzah descended (from their fortress) at the command of Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called Sa’d, and he came and judged that their men should be killed and their women kept alive so that the Muslims could benefit from their service. __QUR_N__ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “You have judged concerning them with the judgment of Allah.” Their number was four hundred. When he finished with their execution, Sa’d’s vein opened and he passed away. __QUR_N__ Imam Tirmidhi says: 1- This hadith is Hasan Sahih (good and authentic). 2- In this chapter, there are also ahadith from Abu Sa’id Khudri and Atiyyah Qurazi (may Allah be pleased with them both).
