Hadith 1222
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَقَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ : يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ " . قَالَ : وَفِي الْبَاب ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ ، وَجَابِرٍ ، وَأَنَسٍ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَحَكِيمِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَعَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ الْمُزْنِيِّ جَدِّ كَثِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A townsman should not sell for a villager (i.e., a city dweller should not sell goods on behalf of a villager, but rather let the villager sell himself)." __REF_N__ Imam Tirmidhi says:

Hadith 1223
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ دَعُوا النَّاسَ يَرْزُقُ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : حَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، وَحَدِيثُ جَابِرٍ فِي هَذَا هُوَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ أَيْضًا ، وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ ، كَرِهُوا أَنْ يَبِيعَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ ، وَرَخَّصَ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ ، وقَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ : يُكْرَهُ أَنْ يَبِيعَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ ، وَإِنْ بَاعَ فَالْبَيْعُ جَائِزٌ .
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No townsman should sell for a villager; leave the people (to sell their goods themselves). Allah provides sustenance to some through others." © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- The hadith of Abu Hurairah is Hasan Sahih.
2- In this chapter, the hadith of Jabir is also Hasan Sahih.
3- Some of the scholars among the Companions acted upon this hadith. They considered it disliked that a townsman should sell the goods of a villager who comes from outside.
4- And some people have given concession that a townsman may buy goods for a villager.
5- Shafi'i says that it is disliked for a townsman to sell the goods of a villager, but if he does sell, the sale will be valid.
