´Imran bin Husain narrated:` "I asked Allah's Messenger (S) about the Salat for a man who is sitting. He said: 'Whoever performs Salat while standing then that is more virtuous. And whoever performs Salat while sitting, then he gets half the rewards of the one standing, and whoever performs Salat while lying down, then he gets half the rewards of the one sitting.'"
Imam Tirmidhi says: 1- According to the scholars, the prayer mentioned in this hadith refers to voluntary (nafl) prayer. 2- Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, he says that Ibn ‘Adi narrated to us, and Ibn ‘Adi from Ash’ath bin ‘Abdul Malik, and Ash’ath from Hasan, he says: In nafl prayer, if a person wishes, he may pray standing, or if he wishes, he may pray sitting, or if he wishes, he may pray lying down. 3- And regarding the prayer of a sick person, when he is unable to pray sitting, the scholars have differed: some scholars say that he should lie on his right side and pray, and some say he should lie flat on his back and his feet should be towards the qiblah. 4- Sufyan Thawri says that in this hadith, where it is mentioned that whoever prays sitting will receive half the reward of the one who prays standing, this is for (nafl) prayers for a healthy person and for one who has no (legal) excuse. As for the person who has an excuse due to illness or something else and prays (obligatory) prayer sitting, he will receive the full reward like the one who prays standing. In some chains of this hadith, a similar statement to that of Sufyan Thawri is also narrated as marfu’.
´This Hadith has been related from Ibrahim bin Tahman with this chain. Except that he said:` "From Imran bin Husain who said: 'I asked Allah's Messenger (S) about Salat for a sick person. He said: "He performs Salat standing, if he is not able then sitting, if he is not able then on his side."
