Explanation: 1: Because most of the rites of Hajj—such as circumambulation (tawaf), visitation (ziyarah), stoning (rami), sacrifice (dhabh), and shaving or cutting the hair (halq)—are performed on this day. (And this hadith has been cited in the explanation of this verse:) ﴿يَوْمَالْحَجِّالأَكْبَرِ﴾ (al-Tawbah: 3)
