Hadith 944

´Ibn Umar said:` "Whoever performs Hajj to the House, then let the last of their acts be at the House, except for menstruating women. The Messenger of Allah gave them permission (to leave)." (Sahih Mawquf)

Benefits and Issues:

➊ In Hajj and Umrah, the fundamental importance is given to the Sacred House (Baytullah). Therefore, upon departure, the farewell circumambulation (Tawaf al-Wada‘) has also been prescribed.

➋ One should strive to perform the farewell circumambulation (Tawaf al-Wada‘) at a time when all arrangements for departure have been completed, and now only the act of going to the bus or taxi stand for Madinah remains, or one is fully prepared to go to the airport or seaport for returning to one’s homeland.

➌ When leaving the mosque after the farewell circumambulation (Tawaf al-Wada‘), walking backwards (with one’s back to the exit) is not established from the Sunnah.
