´Anas bin Malik narrted:` "When the Messenger of Allah stoned the Jamrah, he slaughtered his sacrifice, then he presented the barber the right side (of his head) and he shaved it, then he gave (the hair) to Abu Talhah. Then he presented the left side to him and he shaved it. Then he said: 'Divide it (the hair) among the people.'"

1؎ : From this hadith, it is understood that the pilgrim should begin the act of shaving or shortening the hair (halq or taqsir) from the right side, and the one performing the shaving should also be mindful of this Sunnah.
2؎ : This is a unique characteristic specific to the blessed hair of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam); seeking blessing (tabarruk) from the hair of other awliya (saints) and righteous people was not the practice of the Salaf. The same ruling applies to seeking blessing from saliva and similar things.
