حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ نَاجِيَةَ الْخُزَاعِيِّ صَاحِبِ بُدْنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ بِمَا عَطِبَ مِنَ الْبُدْنِ ؟ قَالَ : " انْحَرْهَا ثُمَّ اغْمِسْ نَعْلَهَا فِي دَمِهَا ، ثُمَّ خَلِّ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَبَيْنَهَا فَيَأْكُلُوهَا " . وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ ذُؤَيْبٍ أَبِي قَبِيصَةَ الْخُزَاعِيِّ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : حَدِيثُ نَاجِيَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ ، قَالُوا فِي هَدْيِ التَّطَوُّعِ إِذَا عَطِبَ : لَا يَأْكُلُ هُوَ وَلَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ رُفْقَتِهِ ، وَيُخَلَّى بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ النَّاسِ يَأْكُلُونَهُ ، وَقَدْ أَجْزَأَ عَنْهُ . وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الشَّافِعِيِّ ، وَأَحْمَدَ ، وَإِسْحَاق ، وَقَالُوا : إِنْ أَكَلَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا غَرِمَ بِقَدْرِ مَا أَكَلَ مِنْهُ ، وقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ : إِذَا أَكَلَ مِنْ هَدْيِ التَّطَوُّعِ شَيْئًا فَقَدْ ضَمِنَ الَّذِي أَكَلَ .
´Najiyah Al-Khuza'i (the Companion of the Messenger of Allah) said:` "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What should be done with the afflicted among the Hadi?' He said: 'Slaughter them, then dip their sandals in their blood, then leave them so that the people can eat them.'"

Benefit:
From this hadith, it is understood that if an animal is about to die, it should be slaughtered so that people can benefit from its meat, and this is general. However, if an animal has been specifically designated for Hady (sacrificial offering) and is being taken towards the House of Allah (Baytullah), and that animal is about to die due to illness or some other reason, then it should be slaughtered, its feet should be smeared with blood, and a mark of blood should be placed on its side. Nothing from the meat of this animal should be eaten by oneself, but the people of that locality and city may eat from it.
