حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْيَمَانِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " اشْتَرَى هَدْيَهُ مِنْ قُدَيْدٍ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الثَّوْرِيِّ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْيَمَانِ ، وَرُوِيَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ " اشْتَرَى هَدْيَهُ مِنْ قُدَيْدٍ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ .
´Ibn Umar narrated:` "The Prophet purchased his Hadi in Qudaid."

English Commentary:

Qudayd is a place between Makkah and Madinah.
2:
That is, this mawquf narration is more authentic than the marfu‘ hadith which Yahya ibn Yaman narrated from Thawri.
Note:
(In the chain, Yahya ibn Yaman became confused in his later years. The correct view is that the sacrificial animal (hady) was purchased by Ibn ‘Umar radi Allahu anhuma himself at Qudayd, as narrated by al-Bukhari (Book of Hajj, 105, Hadith 1693). Yahya ibn Yaman raised it to marfu‘ status.)

The aforementioned narration is weak in its chain of transmission.
The correct view is that Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) himself purchased his sacrificial animal at the place of Qudayd. See: (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Hajj, Chapter: Whoever purchased the sacrificial animal on the way, Hadith: 1693)
Whereas the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) brought his sacrificial animals from Dhu’l-Hulayfah.
