بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي النَّضْحِ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِChapter: [What Has Been Related] About An-Nadh After Wudu

حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ السَّلِيمِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ سَلْمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْهَاشِمِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَنِي جِبْرِيلُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَانْتَضِحْ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا غَرِيبٌ ، قَالَ : وسَمِعْت مُحَمَّدًا يَقُولُ : الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ مُنْكَرُ الْحَدِيثِ ، وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَبِي الْحَكَمِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ , وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , وَزَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ , وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، وقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : سُفْيَانُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ أَوْ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، وَاضْطَرَبُوا فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .
´Abu Hurairah narrated that :` the Prophet said: "Jibril came to me and he said: 'O Muhammad! When you perform wudu then perform Nadh.'"

English Commentary:
1:
The benefit of this is that it removes the doubt that perhaps the moisture found on the garment near the private part might be from drops of urine. And it is evident that if such moisture is found after ablution (wudu), this doubt will arise. However, if the moisture is present after urination but before ablution, then it will certainly be from urine.
2:
Due to Hasan ibn Ali Naufali Hashimi, this hadith of Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu is weak. However, in this chapter, the action of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is established from other Companions.

(The narrator Hasan ibn Ali Hashimi is weak. The hadith in wording is not established. This action is established from the deed of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). See: al-Da‘ifah 1312, and al-Sahihah 841)
