Hadith 40

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ، عَنْ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ الْفِهْرِيِّ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ دَلَكَ أَصَابِعَ رِجْلَيْهِ بِخِنْصَرِهِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ .
´Al-Mustawrid bin Shaddad Al-Fihri said :` "I saw the Prophet when he was performing Wudu doing that to the toes on his feet with his pinky."

It is understood that one should also perform khilal (passing the fingers through) of the toes so that there remains no possibility of any area remaining dry.

Commentary:
Sometimes, due to water not reaching properly between the fingers of the hands and feet, some areas remain dry; therefore, one should perform khilal (passing the fingers through each other) of them.
