´Narrated Abu Hurairah:` that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "People should stop boasting about their fathers who have died, while they are but coals of Hell, or they will be more humiliated with Allah than the dung beetle who rolls dung with his nose. Indeed Allah has removed the pride of Jahiliyyah from you, and its boasting about lineage. [Indeed a person is either] a pious believer, or a miserable sinner. And people are all the children of Adam, and Adam was [created] from dust."
Hadith Referenceسنن ترمذي / كتاب المناقب عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم / 3955
1؎ : By this is meant those forefathers and ancestors who passed away in a state of disbelief; no matter how noble their lineage, it is not permissible for Muslims to take pride in them because they died upon disbelief.
2؎ : Perhaps the author’s purpose in bringing this hadith at the end of the virtues of the tribes is to indicate that, whatever virtues these mentioned tribes may possess, the real matter of success and virtue is one’s own faith (iman) and deeds (‘amal). The superiority of tribe or family and pride in them will be of no benefit; this pride will ultimately become a cause of humiliation.
Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet ﷺ said: Allah, Most High, has removed from you the pride of the pre-Islamic period and its boasting in ancestors. One is only a pious believer or a miserable sinner. You are sons of Adam, and Adam came from dust. Let the people cease to boast about their ancestors. They are merely fuel in Jahannam; or they will certainly be of less account with Allah than the beetle which rolls dung with its nose.

Benefits and Issues: It does not befit any believer to take pride in their forefathers. The standard of honor and dignity in the sight of Allah is piety (taqwa). (“Indeed, the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah is the most pious of you.”) () And whoever attains this strong honor should be extremely grateful to Allah ‘azza wa jall, and should strive to safeguard the honor of faith and piety of their forefathers.
