Hadith 3786

´Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:` "I saw the Messenger of Allah during his Hajj, on the Day of 'Arafah. He was upon his camel Al-Qaswa, giving a Khutbah, so he said: 'O people! Indeed, I have left among you, that which if you hold fast to it, you shall not go astray: The Book of Allah and my family, the people of my house.'"

Explanation:
1:
That is: The creed and methodology of the Ahl al-Bayt, which is established by authentic chain of narration, is itself the guarantor of guidance,
because these sacred souls, by the tongue of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), are guidance.
From this, the Shia’s argument for their Shi’ism is not correct at all, because the creed and methodology authentically transmitted from the Ahl al-Bayt is completely contrary to present-day Shi’ism. As for the Ahl al-Bayt—
are the Shia not claimants of adhering to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)? But has the explanation and understanding of the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) come through the way of the Shia? Are they not, one hundred percent, contrary to the correct meanings of both? The real matter is that the creed and methodology transmitted with authentic chain, in accordance with the understanding of the Salaf, is the only guarantor of guidance.
And that is with the Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama‘ah, the Ahl al-Hadith.
