حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْن عَازِبٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِجَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ : " أَشْبَهْتَ خَلْقِي وَخُلُقِي " وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ قِصَّةٌ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أُبَيٌّ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ نَحْوَهُ .
´Narrated Al-Bara bin 'Azib:` that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to Ja'far bin Abi Talib: "You share similarity with me in appearance and in character."

The incident is that, on the occasion of ‘Umrat al-Qada’, there was a dispute between Ja‘far, ‘Ali, and Zayd ibn Harithah (radi Allahu anhum) regarding the guardianship of the daughter of Hamzah (radi Allahu anhu). Each of them asserted his own right. However, because the girl’s maternal aunt was married to Ja‘far (radi Allahu anhu), the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) entrusted the girl to Ja‘far.
