´Narrated 'Abdullah bin Shaqiq:` "I said to 'Aishah: 'Which of the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) were the most beloved to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?' She said: 'Abu Bakr.' I said: 'Then who?' She said: ''Umar.' I said: "Then who?' She said: 'Then Abu 'Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah.'" He said: "I said: 'Then who?''" He said: "Then she was silent."

Explanation:
1:
The virtues and merits of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum) have various reasons.
Among these, one reason is that all of them are Companions of the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
Another distinct reason is that some have excellence due to their precedence in accepting Islam,
some due to their utmost devotion to Allah and His Messenger,
and some due to their being superior in a particular matter.
And the virtue of one Companion is not contradictory to the virtue of another.
As for the fact that in this hadith, ‘Uthman and ‘Ali (radi Allahu anhuma) are not mentioned, it does not mean that after ‘Umar (radi Allahu anhu), their rank is not established, and instead it is that of Abu ‘Ubaydah (radi Allahu anhu).
However, in the ahadith, this order is established:
After Abu Bakr, then ‘Umar, after them ‘Uthman, and after him ‘Ali,
then after them the ten who were given glad tidings of Paradise (asharah mubasharah),
then the rank of the general Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma‘in).
