Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: I sought permission of the Prophet ﷺ to perform Umrah. He gave me permission and said: My younger brother, do not forget me in your supplication. He (Umar) said: He told me a word that pleased me so much so that I would not have been pleased if I were given the whole world. The narrator Shubah said: I then met Asim at Madina. He narrated to me this tradition and reported the wordings: "My younger brother, share me in your supplication. "

1498. Commentary: ➊ Although this narration is weak in its chain of transmission, it is correct in meaning. That is, the matters established by it are also established by other evidences. For example, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) referring to Umar (radi Allahu anhu) as his brother. ➋ In communal life, seeking permission from elders before undertaking any major important task. ➌ Requesting supplication (du'a) for goodness from people of virtue, especially when they are engaged in a virtuous act.
