Hadith 3378

With this chain, Shu’bah narrated from Abu Ishaq, and Abu Ishaq heard from Agharr (that is, Abu Muslim), who said: I bear witness regarding Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri and Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them), both of them bore witness regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and then he mentioned a hadith similar to the one above.
´Al-Agharr Abu Muslim narrated that:` He bears witness, from Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri, that they bear witness, from the Messenger of Allah, that he said: “There is no group that remembers Allah, except that the angels encompass them, mercy covers them, and tranquility descends upon them: and Allah remembers (mentions) them before those who are with Him.”

Benefits and Issues:

Those who sit for remembrance (dhikr) refers to those who engage in remembrance in the prescribed (masnun) manner, for example:
Individuals who, after completing prayer, are engaged in the prescribed remembrances (adhkar), or gatherings of admonition and lessons of Qur’an and hadith, or those who mention Allah’s blessings among themselves so that a feeling of gratitude arises in the heart.

To engage in remembrance with self-invented words or self-invented methods is contrary to the Sunnah, such as turning off the lights and performing dhikr collectively, especially striking words rhythmically, or giving importance to supplications that are not transmitted from the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), for example:
Durood Taj, Durood Mahi, Kifayat Haykal, Shash Qufl, etc.
From such things, instead of reward, there is a fear of sin.

The angels participate in gatherings of righteousness.

By “tranquility” (sakinah) is meant a special state of contentment, peace, and happiness in the heart that is attained as a result of remembrance (dhikr).

The purpose of the angels mentioning (the people of dhikr) is to express pleasure with this action.
