´Abu Ad-Darda [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that :` the Prophet said: “Should I not inform you of the best of your deed, and the purest of them with your Master, and the highest of them in your ranks, and what is better for you than spending gold and silver, and better for you than meeting your enemy and striking their necks, and they strike your necks?” They said: “Of course.” He said, “The remembrance of Allah [Most High].” [Then] Mu’adh bin Jabal [may Allah be pleased with him] said: “There is nothing that brings more salvation from the punishment of Allah than the remembrance of Allah.”

Explanation:
1:
From this hadith, it is understood that the remembrance (dhikr) of Allah is the greatest means of salvation from Allah’s punishment,
because dhikr
is the name for keeping the words of the Lord of the worlds’ oneness (tawhid),
His praise,
glorification, and exaltation, etc., constantly present on the heart and tongue.

Benefits and Issues:
➊
The foundation of every action is sincerity (ikhlas) for Allah and remembrance of Him.
And the purpose of all major acts of worship is to express servitude before Allah and to remember Him, as He has stated:
﴿وَأَقِمِ الصَّلاةَ لِذِكري ﴾ ()
“Establish the prayer for My remembrance.”
In Hajj, the talbiyah is an important remembrance (dhikr) that continues uninterrupted for a long period.
Regarding sacrifice, it is stated:
﴿لِيَذكُرُوا اسمَ اللَّـهِ عَلىٰ ما رَزَقَهُم مِن بَهيمَةِ الأَنعامِ﴾ ()
“So that they may mention the name of Allah over what He has provided them of cattle.”
Regarding the days of sacrifice, the Prophetic statement is:
“Allah has given them cattle, so mention Allah’s name over them.”
Regarding the days of sacrifice, the Prophetic statement is:
“These are days of eating, drinking, and remembering Allah.” (Sahih Muslim, Book of Fasting, Chapter: The Prohibition of Fasting on the Days of Tashreeq..., Hadith: 1141)
➋
Even in jihad, blessings are attained due to sincerity and remembrance (dhikr), so after describing the method of performing prayer during jihad, it is stated:
﴿فَإِذا قَضَيتُمُ الصَّلاةَ فَاذكُرُوا اللَّـهَ قِيامًا وَقُعودًا وَعَلىٰ جُنوبِكُم﴾ ()
“When you have finished the prayer, then remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying on your sides.”
➌
Prayer, fasting, zakat, and jihad each have their own benefits due to which the performance of these acts is also necessary; however, the remembrance of Allah (dhikr) is the driving spirit for acts of worship.
