´Anas bin Malik narrated that :` the Prophet said: “The supplication is the essence of worship.”
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
It is understood from this that supplication (du'a) is the essence and core of worship.
Therefore, whoever calls upon other than Allah for the fulfillment of needs and the removal of difficulties,
it is as if he is worshipping other than Allah.
Whereas worshipping other than Allah is shirk (associating partners with Allah),
and shirk is such a sin that will never be forgiven without repentance.
Note:
(In the chain of narration, "Ibn Lahi'ah" is weak,
therefore, with the wording (مُخُّ الْعِبَادَۃ), the hadith is weak,
and with the wording (الدُّعَاءُ هُوَ الْعِبَادَۃ), from the narration of Nu'man bin Bashir radi Allahu anhu, this hadith is authentic.
See the next hadith.)
