´Ibn Abbas narrated:` "I was a companion rider on a female donkey with Al-Fadl. We came while the Prophet and his Companions were performing Salat at Mina." He said: "We dismounted from it and joined the row. The donkey then passed in front of them, and this did not invalidate their Salat."

English Commentary:
1:
In this hadith, it is stated that nothing invalidates the prayer, whereas in the following hadith it is mentioned that if a dog, a donkey, or a woman passes in front of the person praying, the prayer becomes invalid. These two hadiths have been reconciled in the following manner: ➊ In Sahih Bukhari, the phrase “that donkey passed in front of those people and their prayer was not invalidated” does not actually appear. The real incident is only that the donkey or both (the donkey and the woman) passed through some parts of the row, while the sutrah (barrier) of the Imam (the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) also served as the sutrah for those parts of the row (and the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, especially would not pray in an open field without a sutrah). ➋ From the first hadith or other hadiths of similar meaning, it is in no way clearly established (that nothing invalidates the prayer). ➌ Whereas the following hadith, which is a verbal statement, contains a specific ruling for the Ummah, and it is a more authentic hadith. Therefore, if any of the aforementioned three things pass in front of the person praying, the prayer becomes invalid (for the meaning of “invalid” see the commentary of the next hadith).
