´Ibn Abbas narrated:` “One day the Messenger of Allah ascended As-Safa and called out: ‘O people! Come at once!’ So the Quraish gathered before him. He said: ‘I am a warner for you before the coming of a severe punishment. Do you think that if I informed you that the enemy was preparing to attack you in the evening or in the morning, would you believe me?’ So Abu Lahab said: ‘Is it for this that you gathered us? May you perish?’ So Allah, Blessed is He and Most High, revealed: Perish the hands of Abu Lahad, perish he.”

Explanation:
1:
This call was used by the Arabs at that time when a tribe needed to gather its members for a particular and important matter.
2:
In other narrations, it is mentioned that when the people had gathered, first the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) sought confirmation from them, asking: "If I were to say such and such, would you affirm my statement or not?" To this, they replied, "Why would we not? You are considered trustworthy and truthful among us." Upon this, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) presented the call to tawhid (monotheism) with this reasoning: "Then affirm this statement of mine as well." At this, Abu Lahab uttered the aforementioned words.
3:
Both hands of Abu Lahab perished and he was destroyed (Tabbat: 1)

Hadith Commentary:
This is the same Abu Lahab who was later seized by the punishment of Allah, and a single poisonous boil appeared, causing his entire body to become poisoned.
Eventually, when his whole body decayed and decomposed, only then did death bring an end to him.
After his death, his corpse continued to rot for several days; finally, his relatives pushed the body into a pit using sticks.
In this way, the promise of Allah’s punishment was fulfilled.

Hadith Commentary:
The curse invoked by Abu Lahab rebounded upon himself.
Allah caused him to die a humiliating death.
Neither his wealth nor his family could avail him in any way.
The ultimate fate of those who torment the friends of Allah is always like this, as is not hidden from those who study history.
All praise is due to Allah that, with His help and the sincere prayers of the respected readers, this 19th part has been completed. Hadith Commentary:
The Quraysh of Makkah used to call the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) insane.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
According to your opinion, I am insane because I am informing you that the way of life you have adopted is completely wrong and baseless, and I am warning you of its evil consequences. And if, on the contrary, I had said that you people are proceeding very correctly, then you would have considered me wise. But when I inform you of a few solid facts, you begin to call me insane.
For Allah’s sake! Reflect a little and use your intellect.
And Allah is the One whose help is sought.

Linguistic Explanation:
«الصَّفَا» is the name of a place in Makkah.
«يَا صَبَاحَاه» is the word that a person in distress calls out, or it is used to summon people for an important matter.

Hadith Commentary:
At times of danger from an enemy attack, the Arabs would call out to their people using the phrase "Ya Sabahah!"
The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) also had to warn and alert them against their disbelief, polytheism, and ignorance.
Therefore, he called out to them in the same manner as is done in times of enemy threat.
Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) has, along with the verse ﴿وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ﴾, also included the words ﴿وَرَهْطَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ﴾, but the majority did not recite this verse.
That is why it is not written in the Uthmani Mushaf.
Perhaps its recitation was abrogated, and Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) was not aware of this.
The word "qad" is not in the Noble Qur'an.
Al-A'mash said on his own that what Allah had informed did indeed come to pass, and this is the meaning of "wa qad tab."

Hadith Commentary:
Abu Lahab’s name was ‘Abd al-‘Uzza ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib.
Abu Lahab was his kunyah (agnomen).
Since he was fair-skinned and handsome, the Quraysh gave him the title Abu Lahab, which, due to his later enmity towards Islam, became a document for his entry into the blazing fire of Hell.
The Noble Qur’an mentioned him by his kunyah, Abu Lahab, instead of his real name, because the kunyah Abu Lahab had a certain appropriateness with Hellfire.
And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
Abu Lahab was the real (paternal) uncle of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
Your father had passed away even before your birth, so it was incumbent upon him to take care of his nephew in place of a father, but he was extremely miserly.
When your grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, was about to pass away, he entrusted your guardianship not to Abu Lahab, but to Abu Talib, who was financially much weaker than Abu Lahab.
➋
When the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) publicly announced the message of Allah, Abu Lahab immediately flared up and said what he said, as is mentioned in the hadith.
➌
Although this gathering did not yield any fruitful result due to Abu Lahab’s insolence, it did have the benefit that, as per the divine command, you informed your entire tribe of your call. However, in response to Abu Lahab’s insolence and disrespect, Allah the Exalted revealed an entire surah.
Allah the Exalted mentioned by name only Abu Lahab among your enemies and condemned him, because he had gone far ahead of others in his enmity, hatred, and stubbornness towards you.
And Allah knows best.
