حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ، قَال : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا خَيْرَ الْبَرِيَّةِ ، قَالَ : " ذَلِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، نَحْوَهُ .
´Anas bin Malik narrated that:` A man said to the Prophet: “O best of creatures!” So he said: “That is Ibrahim.”

1؎: The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did this out of humility and as a mark of respect for Ibrahim alayhis salam; otherwise, according to his own statement, he is «سید ولد آدم», and this is indeed our belief, which is established from the Qur’an and Hadith. The author has cited this hadith in the commentary of the divine statement «أولئك هم خير البرية» (Al-Bayyina: 7).
