Hadith Commentary:
In another narration, it is stated that Abu Jahl, according to his own account, once saw the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) praying near the Ka‘bah. He went to harm you, but when he drew near, he suddenly recoiled and retreated on his heels. People asked, “What is this matter? You used to say that you would crush Muhammad’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) neck, so why are you now running away?” He replied, “When I approached him, I saw a trench of fire and terrifying things with wings.” Upon hearing this, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “If he had come any closer, the angels would have seized him and torn each of his limbs apart.” (Wahidi)
How many such wretched people there are who, despite witnessing many signs of Allah’s power, still do not believe. Abu Jahl, the wretched one, was also among those who inwardly knew the reality of Islam and acknowledged the truthfulness of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), but solely due to the shame of his people and out of prejudice and stubbornness, he was not prepared to become Muslim.
Further, Allah says: ﴿وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ﴾ “Prostrate and draw near [to Allah].”
In this, there is an indication that in prostration (sujud), the servant is very close to Allah. For this reason, it is commanded that when you go into prostration, then open your heart and supplicate to Allah, because the supplications made in prostration are generally accepted.
Thus have we experienced, with the help of Allah the Exalted and His good guidance.

Hadith Commentary:
Abu Jahl saw the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performing prayer in the Ka'bah, so he advanced towards him with evil intent, but then suddenly began to retreat.
When the chiefs of Quraysh saw him, they asked, "Abu al-Hakam! What happened?" He replied anxiously:
"A terrifying fire came between me and Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)."
When people mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), he said:
"If he had come near me, the angels would have torn him limb from limb."
