Hadith 3133

´Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:` that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When the Quraish belied me, I stood in the Hijr, and Allah displayed Bait Al-Maqdis to me, so I informed them of its features as I was looking at it."

Linguistic Explanation:
By «الحِجر» is meant the Hatim, that is, the area of the Ka‘bah between the Iraqi and Shami (Levantine) corners, around which a small wall has been built in a circular shape. The purpose of this is so that people perform circumambulation (tawaf) from outside it, because that area is also considered part of the Ka‘bah. In fact, during the Days of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), due to the scarcity of lawful earnings among the disbelievers of Makkah, this area was left unconstructed. This place is also called «حِجْرِ اِسْمَاعِيْل».
«فَجَلَا» means “opened” or “made apparent.”

Understanding the Hadith:
In reality, when the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) narrated the incident of the Mi‘raj before the Quraysh, they strongly opposed it. And since the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had also mentioned Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) during this event, the Quraysh questioned him about the characteristics of Bayt al-Maqdis. At that moment, Allah, the Exalted, made Bayt al-Maqdis appear before him, and the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) began to describe its signs and features to the Quraysh.

Hadith Commentary:
On the night of Mi'raj, you were in the house of Umm Hani, so by "Masjid al-Haram" is meant the land of the Haram.
Your Mi'raj from Makkah to Bayt al-Maqdis is definitive.
Whoever denies what is established from the Noble Qur'an is a denier of the Qur'an, and whoever denies the Qur'an is a disbeliever. And from Bayt al-Maqdis to the heavens, it is established by authentic hadith; whoever denies this is misguided and an innovator (mubtadi‘).
Hafiz said: Most of the scholars of the Salaf and the Ahl al-Hadith hold the view that this Mi'raj occurred with both body and soul, in a state of wakefulness.
This is the true matter.
In the narration of Bayhaqi, it is stated that when you narrated the story of Mi'raj, the disbelievers of Quraysh denied it and came to Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu, who affirmed your truthfulness, and from that day he was given the title "Siddiq" radi Allahu anhu.
Bazaar narrated from Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma that the mosque of Bayt al-Maqdis was brought and placed near the house of Aqil.
I would look at it and describe its characteristics.
Some have said that Isra and Mi'raj occurred on two separate nights, because Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has mentioned both in separate chapters. However, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah himself has established a chapter in the Book of Prayer (Kitab al-Salat) regarding how prayer was made obligatory on the night of Isra.
It is thus known that Isra and Mi'raj occurred on the same night.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has established separate chapters for Isra and Mi'raj, from which it is understood that, according to him, Isra and Mi'raj occurred on different nights. However, this position is questionable because Imam Bukhari rahimahullah, in the Book of Prayer, has established a chapter with these words:
(Bab: Kayfa Furidat al-Salat fi al-Isra)
"How was the prayer made obligatory on the night of Isra?"
From this, it is understood that Isra and Mi'raj occurred on the same night, because the obligation of the prayers took place on the occasion of Mi'raj.
(Fath al-Bari: 7/247)
2.
The majority of the scholars of the Salaf and the hadith scholars hold the position that Isra and Mi'raj occurred with both body and soul, in a state of wakefulness.
3.
When the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam narrated the incident of Mi'raj, the disbelievers of Quraysh denied it, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu affirmed it.
From that day, Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu received the title "Siddiq."
4.
The wisdom in going from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa is that you may gain the honor of both qiblahs and lead the noble prophets alayhimus salam in prayer there.
Or, it is because you went there since Bayt al-Maqdis is the place of resurrection, and you went there to be honored with various virtues.
And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
In one narration, it is mentioned that some people from the Quraysh came to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq radi Allahu anhu and said to him:
"Your Messenger, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, claims that he went to Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) at night and returned the same night, whereas a caravan takes a month to reach there and a month to return." Upon hearing this, Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said, "Did he really say this?" They replied, "Yes." He said, "If the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has said this, then I affirm it."
(Fath al-Bari: 9/498)
It was due to this stance that Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu was given the title "as-Siddiq" (the Truthful).

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues:
In today's era, any building in the world, in any country, can be shown through television, so what could possibly be impossible before the divine power of Allah?
(This hadith is related to the previous chapter.)
If Allah showed you Bayt al-Maqdis while you were standing in Hatim, then there is nothing extraordinary about it.
